چکیده

P A P ER Abstract The broadband enhancement of single–photon emission from nitrogen-vacancy centers in nanodiamonds coupled to a planar multilayer metamaterial with hyperbolic dispersion is studied experimentally. The metamaterial is fabricated as an epitaxial metal/dielectric superlattice consisting of CMOS-compatible ceramics: titanium nitride (TiN) and aluminum scandium nitride (AlxSc1-xN). It is demonstrated that employing the metamaterial results in significant enhancement of collected single–photon emission and reduction of the excited-state lifetime. Our results could have an impact on future CMOS-compatible integrated quantum sources.

Metamaterials and Transformation Optics for Single-photon Emitters

We have experimentally demonstrated the broadband enhancement of single-photon emission from nanodiamond NV centers coupled to planar multilayer metamaterial with hyperbolic dispersion. A tapered metamaterial waveguide for efficient outcoupling of high-k metamaterial modes has been numerically studied and fabricated. Introduction: The major thrust of research in quantum photonics is to build qu...

Patterning metamaterials for fast and efficient single-photon sources

Solid state quantum emitters are prime candidates to realize fast on-demand single-photon sources. The improvement in photon emission and collection efficiencies for quantum emitters, such as nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond, can be achieved by using a near-field coupling to nanophotonic structures. Plasmonic metamaterial structures with hyperbolic dispersion have been previously demons...

Diamond nanophotonics and applications in quantum science and technology

Diamond nanophotonics have evolved tremendously from the study of color centers in bulk single crystals and nanocrystals to their characterization in nanostructured environments. This development was facilitated by the ability to generate monolithic, sophisticated nanodevices in high quality single crystal diamond. Here, we present some recent contributions to the field of diamond nanophotonics...

Two-photon quantum interference from separate nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond.

We report on the observation of quantum interference of the emission from two separate nitrogen vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. Taking advantage of optically induced spin polarization in combination with polarization filtering, we isolate a single transition within the zero-phonon line of the nonresonantly excited NV centers. The time-resolved two-photon interference contrast of this filtered ...
